I know that Acronis True Image Home is very popular, and with good reason. Prior to that I tried the Partition Recovery tools in BootIt Bare Metal, but this product wasn't able to find the real missing partition.

Once identified the deleted partition was completely, 100% restored. It's a Win PE environment that boots off its own CD.Īctive Disk did a deep scan that took about 6 hours, and found over 100 "partitions" but correctly identified the one that in use when Acronis did their damage. I ended up recovering that 1 GB logical partition inside an extended partition using something called "Active Disk." A friend lent me his copy. then I discovered using Administrative Tools cpl that the entire drive was unformatted!!!! This drive had all my real data and years worth of photos. Then I discovered that the 1 TB drive was unreadable on my other systems when I plugged it in. Ok, these were only test installs, which I never activated online. Then I wanted to uninstall DD so I could do a trial with a similar product from Paragon Software.Īfter i did the uninstall, I could no longer boot from either of the two Win 7 installs on Disk 0, using the Windows 7 "BCD" menu. I loaded up the Operating Systems Selector that comes with Disk Director 11 and ran some simple tests to see how well the boot manager worked. I also had a 1 TB drive on the system via a USB connection. I was doing a trial install of Acronis Disk Director 11 on a system that had three "trial installs" of Win 7. Passing this along so that the rest of you guys don't have the same, sorry experience I did.
